La Lloia – A Timeless Retreat Overlooking the Mediterranean

La Lloia is a house built atop a 30-meter-high hill in 1943, with later expansions in 1956, 1967, and 1976, completing the residence, its terraces, and two distinct swimming pools.

One pool holds 50 m³ of crystal-clear freshwater, over 2.5 meters deep. The other, a triangular saltwater pool of 75 m³ and 3 meters deep, remains pristine, as we clean and replace the water every four days.

Situated on the edge of Port de la Selva, La Lloia offers panoramic views of the village, partially concealed by a pine forest—some trees centuries old—while also opening to the stunning bay, the Nautical Club, and the Albera mountain range, crowned by the monumental 9th–12th century monastery of Sant Pere de Rodes.

To the north, the house overlooks Platja del Pas, just a one-minute walk away, with the Mediterranean Sea and Cape Cervera (France) stretching on the horizon.

La Lloia features seven terraces, each with its own character, set on different levels of stone and grass. These terraces provide breathtaking, varied perspectives and, most importantly, the privacy and intimacy that families or groups seek during their vacations.

With a capacity to comfortably accommodate up to 11 guests, the house includes six bedrooms, four full bathrooms, and two additional restrooms. A spacious kitchen with an office, a barbecue area, and a laundry room with spectacular views complete the property.

Between the 1940s and the late 1970s, La Lloia was frequented by various artists and painters, close friends of the founder, including Alberto Fabra, Xavier Vilató, and José Fín Vilató (the latter two nephews of Pablo Picasso). Their artistic imprint remains in many corners of the house and garden, where some remarkable paintings and artworks still adorn the space.

Today, descendants of the original owner manage La Lloia, ensuring visitors a warm and personalized welcome, striving to make every guest feel comfortable and at home.

Port de la Selva and Its Surrounding

Port de la Selva is a traditional fishing village, where vineyards and small farms also shape the landscape. It is one of the key settlements surrounding and managing the spectacular Cap de Creus Natural Park, along with Roses and Cadaqués. The rugged coastline and mountainous interior of Cap de Creus preserve a pristine, untamed nature, with deep coves rich in marine life and crystal-clear waters. Activities such as windsurfing, wing foiling, kayaking, and scuba diving are widely practiced, with numerous schools and centers available.

The area offers a range of beaches, from a large sandy one to a dozen secluded rocky coves with vibrant underwater ecosystems.

Just 15 minutes away lies Cadaqués, often regarded as the most beautiful village in Catalonia and the former home of Salvador Dalí in the idyllic cove of Port Lligat. A 30-minute drive takes you to Figueres, where the world-renowned Dalí Museum is located.

Peralada, a medieval village 20 minutes away, is home to an impressive castle that houses an elegant casino and hosts an internationally acclaimed music festival each year.

Five minutes from Peralada, the 11th-century monastery of Santa Maria de Vilabertran offers another prestigious classical music event, the Schubertiade.

Sant Pere de Rodes also hosts an esteemed classical music festival within its stunning 10th-century church, accompanied by a restaurant boasting breathtaking views over the bay of Port de la Selva.
